Welcome to Space Coast Baseball.
This web site will be an adventure for you, me, and all baseball fans in the Space Coast.
I don't know where it will lead, but we'll go there together.
My wife and I moved here from California in late May. We chose the Space Coast because we love it here — the people, the pace of life, the water, the wildlife, the rocket launches — and yes, the weather.
In 1998, I created FutureAngels.com, a web site that covers the Los Angeles Angels minor leagues. The Angels are and always will be the team in my heart, but I love baseball and want to tell the story of this great game as it unfolds.
SpaceCoastBaseball.com will be similar to its older sibling site in that it'll feature news, photos, video and interviews of baseball players, executives and personalities. The main difference is that it won't focus on one organization. It focuses on baseball in the Space Coast — professional and amateur.
Both sites are service-oriented. My goal isn't to make money, although donations are gladly accepted. The goal is to document the history of baseball in the Space Coast as it unfolds around us. Right now, the Rockledge Little League is on a path to Williamsport, having won the Florida state championship. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. The big kids, the Brevard County Manatees, have already earned a playoff berth for the Florida State League championship in September.
SpaceCoastBaseball.com isn't competition for Florida Today or any other media outlet, nor does it intend to replace the web sites for the Manatees or Gulf Coast League Nationals. I'll point you in their direction when appropriate because they do their jobs far better than I could. SpaceCoastBaseball.com is intended to be a complement to those sites, offering you a little extra content from a different perspective.
Watch the Multimedia section for interviews, photos and video clips. The photos will be available for purchase once I get settled in our new home. Check out the FutureAngels.com Digital Photo Gallery for an idea of what's to come.
Being the new Floridian on the block, I know I have a big learning curve so I need to rely on you to educate me about professional and amateur baseball in the Space Coast. Please feel free to e-mail me at home@spacecoastbaseball.com with your comments and suggestions.
